I have recently embarked on a joyous and empowering journey into what I call 'Spiritual Gateaux.' This term, inspired by the layered nature of a gateau cake, represents profound joy and empowerment. I have found it in the multi-faceted journey of spiritualism. In today's market-driven spiritualism, we often see a stereotypical image of a spiritual figure, slim or fat, adorned with ceremonial ornaments. These figures are characterised by perpetual smiles, flowing beards, towering hair, and an array of additional accessories deemed the attire of a spiritual guru. Having visited over forty such spiritual institutions, I respect each one's unique approach and acknowledge their expertise in their domain. As a discerning observer, I selectively embrace teachings that resonate with me, leaving aside those that do not align with my path. Through interactions with numerous gurus and masters, both nationally and internationally, I have gleaned foundational insights into the essence of spiritualism.

Spiritualism simplifies shedding the unnecessary and embracing what truly matters. Whether viewed through an Indian or global lens, this principle guides my understanding and wisdom of spiritual practice. I began embracing elements that bring me happiness, peace, love, tranquillity, care, and social responsibility while discarding those that harm my body, mind, heart, and soul. This journey led me to coin the term "Spiritual Gateau" because I discovered it to be as smooth as silk, sweet as honey, and remarkably empowering, with simplicity and swiftness.

Peace is liberation, which, to me, encapsulates the essence of spiritualism. It transcends the external portrayal of perpetual smiles, elaborate gadgets, and flashy attire often associated with gurus. A true guru may be as simple as someone in shorts and a T-shirt, living authentically according to their beliefs and values.

My quest for spiritual understanding concluded with Sri Bhagavat Ayya, who simplified spiritualism beyond what is often seen in the mainstream. Unlike the focus on extrasensory perception (ESP), healing powers, or Siddhi achievements—transforming one thing into another or leaving and returning to the body—these concepts are beyond my scope, perhaps achievable through specific yoga practices. Whether these are factual remains uncertain.
